Why WeLoveRobots
Robots have peaked my imagination since I was a child. Saturday morning was full of robots from horror and sci-fi movies, cartoons, and the news. Some of my first memories as a child involve me plunked in front of the TV watching Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot, and being absolutely memorized by the thought of what robots can, or could do.
GORT stands out as a robot that both terrified my and set my imagination on fire. The Day The Earth Stood Still was and is a fantastic movie, even the remake, but what captured the imagination was this giant robot that just stood there ready to fry you on a whim. Or Maria, from Metropolis, was both a exploration of technology, and what could be achieved, even though she was under nefarious commands.
We have to face it, we love robots. We build them to do everything from exploring areas where us human folk can’t go, to manufacturing products precisely and safely, to entertaining us with toys and kits.
I created we love robots as a way to explore the robots I find everyday both in the real world and online. It’s more of a learning experience really, from what is happening in the robotics field, to what cool new robots are available in the industrial arena, and let’s face it, the awesome robot toys that are available.
